Middleby Meets: Paul Chapple

16 Jul 21

Our Technical & Sales Support Manager, Paul Chapple, is on his second stint with Middleby UK and been with the team almost 12 years! Let’s learn some more about Paul…

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’ve been happily married to my wife, Glenda, for coming up on 8 years. I really enjoy all sport, except cricket. A round of golf is as strenuous as it gets – but I won’t mention my handicap – & I follow Liverpool football club (lucky to have a season ticket in the Kop) & the New England Patriots American Football team, from my deep-rooted ties to Pitco & Blodgett.

Musically, it doesn’t get better than the 80’s.

I’m also a huge movie fan. I will happily sit through a 2 hour movie only to turn round at the end & say “that was garbage; 2 hours of my life wasted”; you don’t know until the end…

What’s your favourite thing about working at Middleby UK?

My colleagues in the office. There is a real team, almost family, feel to the internal staff which makes working here an absolute pleasure.

How long have you been at Middleby?

Currently 11 years & 9 months, though this is my 2nd stint. I was with the company – Frialator international as it was then – in the late 80’s through to 1998. My earliest ties to the company date back to 1975 though, when it was based in East Finchley Road in London as my dad – Ray Chapple – worked there & I spent a week of the school holiday down there with him.

What’s your favourite product?

The Pitco 35C. It’s a real workhorse; simple to operate & hugely reliable.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Spending quality time with family is high on my list, which has been difficult through the various lockdowns, so I’m really looking forward to life after July 19th.

And finally, just for fun, what’s your favourite food?

This is the most difficult question as I enjoy all foods; Indian, Chinese, TexMex, Tapas, Italian, etc. If I had to pick one it would be…my wife’s homemade lasagne. It’s so good it tastes even better on the 2nd day when I get leftovers for lunch!

Thanks Paul, we’ve loved learning some more about you, your hobbies & passions!
